State Chaplain’s Message
Brother Knights,
As I write this message, we celebrate the feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday of our Church Year. Also, I have just arrived back from a State Chaplain’s seminar in Nashville. We met on the second day with the State Deputies. The sessions were inspiring.
This first Sunday of Advent, we will be using the New Roman Missal which is a more accurate translation of the Latin Missal issued by Blessed John Paul. Also in the new missal will be found the Mass prayers for recently canonized saints. It may take a little time to adjust to the new wording of some responses. However, the changes are minor.
I heard from our State Deputy that our columns in the monthly bulletin are not always read. Perhaps, there should be a bit of humour in them.
This is a cute joke that our shuttle bus drive in Nashville told. A cat and a mouse went to heaven at the same time and St. Peter greeted the. A short time later Peter met with them and asked them if they had any needs. The mouse asked for roller skates. A while later Peter met the cat and asked him how things were going. He replied great. I now have meals on wheels.
Advent is a time of opening our hearts more to the mercy and love of Jesus. We can do this by receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation, more prayer in our lives and by reaching out to the lonely, the needy and seeing Jesus in the people around us.
My prayers and best wishes to you, your wives and families for a blessed and Happy Christmas and New Year.
