Family Program Awards

We all know how important the Family Program is to the well-being of any K of C council. Councils with superior family programs are flourishing, their members are content and, generally, council membership increases. To maintain this healthy status and enhance incentives for future activities, we have to reward the family who exemplifies the values taught by our Order and Church. The following awards are available and they should be fully utilized:

Family of the Month Award – COUNCIL Level

At the council level, the Family of the Month Award is usually presented at the General Meeting to the Brother Knight (the member of the selected family). Certificate #1843 in English, #1843F in French and 1843S in Spanish.

Family of the Month Award - SUPREME Level

At the same time, submit the name of the family awarded at the council level to the Supreme Council on form #1993A. It could also be done electronically on the kofc.org website. A contest at the Supreme level is held each month, from August through July, where 100 randomly selected families receive a beautiful Holy Family statuette along with a letter of congratulations from Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson. The form is due by the 15th of each following month. For example, the form with the Family of the Month for February has to reach Supreme Council before March 15th.

Family of the YEAR Award – COUNCIL Level

Family of the Year Award is presented at the end of the Columbian Year to the Brother Knight (the member of the selected family). The family should be selected from the current year recipients of the Family of the Month. Certificate to be used: #1843-A in English, #1843-AF, in French and #1843-AS in Spanish.

Family of the YEAR Award - Manitoba State Council Level

The Family of the Year Award is presented near the end of the Columbian Year in your council, certificate #1843-A (#1843-AF in French, #1843-AS in Spanish). The awarded family’s name is to be entered on the entry form for the Family of the Year found in the booklet from Supreme Council. It must be submitted, no later than April 6, 2012 to the Manitoba State Council. The new family of the year for Manitoba State jurisdiction will be presented at the State Convention and the family will be honored at the K of C International Field Mass to be held at the Peace Garden on July 8, 2012. Their name will also be submitted for the Supreme Council Competition.

Service Program Award - Family Activity

Near to the end of every Columbian year, each council is encouraged to submit a project or activity in the area of Family Activities (also in the Church, Community, Council and Youth activities). Again, the purpose of this award is to be an added incentive for the individual council to promote the existing and to add new exciting activities. The winners will be presented with attractive plaques at the Manitoba State Convention. Please use the Service Program Awards Forms and refer to “Surge… with Service” booklet. The deadline for submission to the Manitoba State Council is April 6, 2012.
